NEW SCHOOL YEAR CEREMONY AT LOD VOCATIONAL TRAINING COLLEGE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES

The open ceremony and the new school year 2012 - 2013 of LOD Vocational Training College of Industrial Technologies was organized this morning 27th September 2012 by LOD Human Resources Development Corporation in Yen My district, Hung Yen province.

The ceremony was attended by the Mr. Le Kha Phieu, the Former General Secretary of Vietnam Communist Party; Mr.Nguyen Van Cuong, Provincial Secretary of Hung Yen province; Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, Chairman of Hung Yen province; Mr. Pham Quy Tieu, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport; Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, Chief of Overseas Working Management Department, Ministry of LaborInvalids and Social Affairs; representatives of Trade Promotion Organization JETRO Japan and representatives of the Central Departments of Hanoi, Hung Yen, Yen My District, and Trung Hoa commune.

2012-2013 School Year Ceremony has made the officials, teachers and students of the college unforgetable. The Ceremony is not only a new school year one but also the first openning one of a nice and spacious school being built up by the efforts of the leaders and employees of LOD Human Resource Development Corporation. The school also is the result of the consideration, the great supports, and encouragement of the leaders of the national departments, business partners, and friends who have accompanied with us since the establishment to creat today LOD brand.

“ LOD was founded on 29/12/1992 and formerly named Crew Supply Company under the Ministry of Transport with a school of training engineering and labor export transportation. LOD begun with the capital 300 million VND and initially supplied fishery manpower for the foreign fishing partners only. LOD has struggled continuously for the past 20 years and has become a reliable address to labor and foreign partmers,” Mr. Vu Cong Binh said at the ceremony.

Since its establishment, LOD has trained and developed skills for more than 52,000 students to supplement the domestic labor demand and supply over 42,000 people working in the foreign labor high - demand market such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, the Federal Republic of Russia, Laos and UAE… The partners has appreciated skills, language, sense, adapability of the workers supplied and trained by LOD.

For the latest decade, the economy of the world, Asia and Vietnam have developed dramatically. Many new fields, industries, and emerging businesses have been born, which have led to a boom in the labor demand, especially professional and skilled labor.

However, there are some barriers for Vietnamese workers in the international economic integration such as uneven workforce quality; limited ability to acquire foreign languages; being unfamiliar with working discipline and industrial working style . These weaknesses should be awared and improved by the state management departments, labor supplying companies, and Vietnamese workers.

Basing on these demands, LOD Human Resource Development Corporation built the project of establishing LOD Vocational Training College of Industrial Technologies and submitted it to Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs for approval and Hung Yen Province People's Committee to get the investment certificate. The college is upgraded on the background of the School of Engineering and Labor Export Transport.

With the supports of Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs, Hung Yen Province, the college has been established under the decision No. 1886/QD- BLĐTBXH on 31.12.2008 and investment certificate No. 05101000107 on 24.06.2008. Accordingly, the college officially is located in Trung Hoa - Yen My district, Hung Yen province on a total area of 6.2 hectares with 4.9 hectares of campus. Its second campus is located at 924 Bach Dang Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi on the area of 7000 m2 with nine vocational diploma courses, seven certificate IV courses, and eleven certificate II and III courses.

The college’s training scale is diploma and certificate:3,000 students / year, skilled workers and workers to work in foreign countries : 9,000 students / year. In which, Hanoi campus has offered four courses of diploma, certificates for 500 students since 2008

The construction project of LOD Vocational Training College of Industrial Technologies in Hung Yen is devided into two phases. The first phase started in August 2008 to release, level and do basic construction such as office equipment, teaching material and equipment, library, canteen, dormitary practical areas, lecture halls, welding workshops, auto mechanics workshops, car driving practise yard, and external campus for training of 3,000 students per year. The phase was completed in April / 2012.

“ The second phase of the project (2013-2015) will complete the following tasks: equip machineries to train vocational courses, expand the dormitory to ensure accommodation for 2,000 students after the college officially recruit students and stabilize. The end of the first phase, the college has 10 blocks with a construction area of 18,000 m2, 50 theory classrooms, 25 practical classrooms, a 150-room dormitory, 10 expert rooms, workshops of 800m2 , 02 laboratories, electronic libraries, kitchen for 300 meals per shift, car driving practiacal yard of 12,500 m2, cafeteria of 180 m2, green campus of 20,000 m2, sport and physical activity area of 6,500 m2 , all of which satisfy the green environmental standards. With this facility, we can train 3,000 students / year and meet the requirements of vocational, culture, and language training for markets such as Japan, Korea, Germany and UAE ...,” stressed Vu Cong Binh.

The college determines that its student is the center of the training process. With the advantage of the labour training and supplying a joint-stock enterprise, the college and LOD company have good conditions to support each other. High training quality of the college will supply standarded human resources for the company's current orders and vice versa when the partners have believed in the services of the LOD company, they will order the college to recruit and train human resources for their future needs.

With the view "lifetime stick with the employees", LOD company have not only trained vocation, sent and managed human resources working in abroad but also officially offered some new services such as: re-training, skills of managing people who have completed the signed contract with a foreign compnay and come back Vietnam and introducing them to FDI enterprises in Vietnam; or connecting and supporting the business channels and labour consultants to use financial resources accumulated by the abroad – working people effectively. This will be a circle creating long-term benefits, the link between the employee and the company, as well as putting idle capital into business, creating jobs and increase the surplus value to society.

At the ceremony, the representative of JETRO (Japan) has appreciated the cooperation of the college and the company in the training process, labor recruitment for exporting, and job arrangement for the workers finishing working at foreign countries and come back Vietnam. This can be seen as a standard model of recruitment, training and exporting labour in Vietnam. Therefore, the employees of LOD company are always appreciated in the Japanese labour market.

On the visit to the ceremony, Mr. Le Kha Phieu, the Former General Secretary of Vietnam Communist Party, appreciated efforts of the college’s employees, teachers and students. He emphasized "For a sustainable economic development, it is necessary to pay attention to build human resource training strategies. To have high production outcome, it is necessary to invest in science and technology. The time of buffalo has gone.Now it is the time of modern machinery and equipment and human must be trained professionally to use the modern technology. Training must be associated with job requirements and specific purposes. Training human to supply labor for domestic and overseas enterprises should be focused more than ever”

Mr. Le Kha Phieu advised the college’s staffs, teachers, and students to attempt completing the task "rowing boat", not only teaching literacy and vocation but also teaching tobe human. He also proposed Hung Yen province and the relevant departments to support the college to develop and maintain LOD brand.
